As the supervisor of a cruise line with a long tradition Victoria Stellmann (Christine Neubauer) conducts her job with intelligence and confidence. She enjoys a stellar reputation amongst colleagues and business partners and is liked and respected by both. Her private life is also very happy: She leads a happy family life with her husband Kai (Ulrich Noethen) and their three children.
One day at a business congress she –seemingly by chance - meets handsome Jacques Oberländer (Hans-Werner Meyer). There is chemistry between the two right from the start. With charm, sensibility and humor the easy-going businessman spellbinds her. In his presence she experiences romance which has long been lost in the harmonic but unromantic relationship with her husband Kai. Even after her return back home Jacques will not stop romancing her. On one hand Victoria is uneasy about his continuing advances but also flattered and finally spends a romantic night with her admirer. The harsh awakening follows soon: A few days later she receives an anonymous blackmail-note threatening to publicize a video that shows her sexual encounter unless she pays half a million Euros.
