17-year-old Anna develops leukemia; the only thing that would save her life is a bone marrow transplant, but there is no suitable donor. Her parents, Sabine and Martin Vogt can only see one possible solution: Sabine intends to become pregnant again by means of artificial fertilization and the process of pre-implantation diagnosis - which is illegal in Germany - so that the child she gives birth to will be genetically identical to Anna. Without Anna or the rest of the family knowing what is happening, her parents go to a clinic abroad. But now the ethical conflict threatens to break up the whole family.
